Oxnard Bike HUB to Host Bicycle Art Exhibit and Community Conversation on Mental Health
Bike Ventura County & The 805 Autonomous Health Clinic
May is a month for celebrating bicycles and mental health awareness, and this May, the Oxnard Bike HUB is celebrating both together. In partnership with the 805 Autonomous Health Clinic, the Oxnard Bike HUB will host an art exhibit of hand-painted bicycles by local Oxnard artists that each touch on an aspect of mental health.
One of the best ways to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month is by publicly having these conversations to do away with accompanying stigmas. The “Healing Cycles” bicycle art exhibit opens Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 11:00am – 4:00pm at the new Oxnard Bike HUB: 154 E. 6th Street. That opening day, artists and community members will engage in a compassionate conversation on mental health and on how cycling might contribute to mental wellness. The painted bicycle art exhibit will remain on display at the Oxnard Bike HUB between May 15–31, 2022.
The Oxnard Bike HUB is a project of Bike Ventura County, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving Ventura County whose mission is to foster safe, healthy communities through bicycle-centered education, empowerment, and advocacy in Ventura County.
The 805 Autonomous Health Clinic is a BIPOC-led mobile clinic of physicians, birth workers, mental health counselors, and community health promoters organizing toward integral health for all beings on Chumash Lands.
